Our approach to childhood

Belonging comes first

A nurturing environment where children’s individual personalities and family backgrounds are valued.

Play opens the world

Stories, sensory exploration, art, music, and movement bring curiosity into everyday experiences.

Together with families

Positive relationships and ongoing communication help connect home, daycare, and our wider community.

More than a name

Roots for belonging.
Wings for becoming.

When children feel supported, they can begin to discover what they’re capable of. Our name holds both halves of that journey.

Roots

Security, connection, and a place to feel at home.

Wings

Confidence, independence, and the freedom to explore.

A story rooted in community

Built by families.
Growing with Brooklyn.

Founded by three sisters and a group of parents, Roots and Wings began with a shared wish for quality, full-day childcare. Our community found its Park Slope home in 1993.
